Podcasts

Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular in the United States. A podcast is an audio recording on just about any topic that can be downloaded on most devices and listened to at anytime. Podcasts are relatively easy to create and are a tool for American Spaces to promote media literacy, journalistic skills, and press freedom.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has published this guide on how to create your own podcasts. This is a great resource for journalism and podcasting clubs.

ECA has also created the 22.33 podcast on exchange stories. Below are discussion guides for some of these podcasts.

Voice of America/USAGM

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), formerly known as the Broadcasting Board of Governors, is an independent agency of the U.S. government that runs news agencies around the world through five networks: Voice of America, Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, and Middle East Broadcasting Networks. This page outlines ways you can incorporate USAGM resources at your American Space.

TED Talks

TED is a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment, and design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
